Running alongside the waters of the Carrick Roads, this short walk from the village of Flushing to the yacht harbour and waterside church at Mylor Churchtown has wonderful views. It's about 2km from Trefusis Point to Churchtown.

You get a bit of everything on this walk, sea, woods and fields. Only a couple of stiles and my collies managed them well. Not too much mud but wear walking boots as the cows use the fields sometimes and leave their foot print. We had a delicious fish lunch at Castaways East before heading back up the hill through the churchyard to complete the circuit. I can’t wait to go back.

This is a great way to spend the day; take 'Miranda' the little ferry, from the Prince of Wales Pier, to Flushing. The best route is around Trefusis Head, turn right along the road when you get off the ferry, this is 2.3 miles but mostly flat. There are two choices for eating in Mylor; we prefer the Cafe to the Wine Bar for lunch. Return by the same route or take the hilly option over the top of the hill 1.6 miles. Take the time to look around St Mylor Church and see the HMS Ganges Memorial. The flat route takes about 45 minutes but anticipate longer as you will stop frequently to look around and take photos. We have seen seals on the coastal route. The 'up and over' route although shorter is quite steep and if you have dodgy knees the last bit down into Flushing is a killer! The Seven Stars provides a warm welcome at Flushing if you have to wait for the return ferry or the Waterside Cafe, though opening hours seem a bit random. There is a small general store and there is sometimes coffee available at the methodist hall apparently. NB: If there has been prolonged heavy rain then leave this for another day as the fields can get very boggy but it drains pretty quickly and the paths are being improved all the time. I will award a 5th star when there are a few bench seats along the way!
