Readymoney Cove

A perfect scooped-out circle of sand, Readymoney Cove is found close to the mouth of the River Fowey. Overlooked by St Catherine's Castle and sheltered by small cliffs, the cove was once home to Daphne du Maurier. The beach is cleaned daily in high season, although the water is subject to pollution after heavy rain. Facilities and parking nearby.

Lansallos Cove

This lovely 'secret' cove is reached by a track that winds down through the woods from the church in the village above. It can also be incorporated as part of a walk on the South West Coast path from Pencarrow Head or Polperro. A small waterfall tumbles down to the left of the cove on the site of an old watermill.

Polkerris Beach

Polkerris beach sits at the feet of Polkeris, a little hamlet overlooking St Austell Bay. Next door to Menabilly, home of Daphne du Maurier, Polkerris beach is sheltered by a stone quay and offers plenty of facilities. With a slipway running down to the sandy beach, the south west-facing bay is perfect for families looking to enjoy long days in the sunshine.

Lantivet Bay

Lantivet Bay is made up of a collection of small coves situated between Polruan and Polperro on the South West Coast Path. These 'secret' coves are difficult to access and are often hidden at high tide. Strong currents can make swimming hazardous, but they make for beautiful, secluded picnic spots for the intrepid walker.

Black Head

A quiet secluded small cove sheltered between Black Head and Drennick headland. Follow the coastal path past a memorial stone to A L Rowse (a Cornish Historian) and take the narrow path to the beach with care. A sand, shingle and stone beach only exposed at low tide with good snorkelling and some rock pools.
