Brook Chine Beach

Adjacent to Compton Bay, this beach offers golden sands and wide open spaces for games. A Fossilised forest appears at low tide at Hanover Point and a sandstone ledge behind it offers up fossilised dinosaur footprints. It is possible to book on a tour to discover more fossils on the beach. Dogs are welcome on the beach here year round. There are no lifeguards on duty here.

Seagrove Beach

This beach can be found nestled in between Priory Bay and Seaview Beach. At low tide you'll find a great expanse of golden sand and this is ideal for a huge range of beach activities and watersports (great for children). A slipway makes access easy for launching boats. At high tide the beach all but disappears so it is advisable to check the tide times before you visit. Dogs are allowed year round. No lifeguards are on duty.

Bembridge Beach

A wide expanse of beach which follows the coast from the spit at the end of the harbour. Sand is exposed at low tide and a sandbank extends into the Solent. Car parking is available behind the beach and it is a short walk into the village. Dogs are allowed year round. There is no lifeguard cover.

Osborne Bay

A private beach accessed only from Osborne House where you will pay an entry fee. The beach is sandy and safe, a favourite of Queen Victoria and her children when they were in residence. These days you can take a look at her bathing hut and enjoy an ice cream on the beach. A shuttle bus runs from the house between April - October. There's no lifeguard cover and dogs are not allowed.

Freshwater Bay beach

A pretty bay with a sand and pebble beach nestled in between chalk cliffs. Located just to the east of Needles headland, the beach is popular but usually has ample space and facilities. Parking is available and dogs are not allowed from May until the end of September. There's no lifeguard cover here.

Seaview Beach

Nestled between Seagrove Bay and Priory Bay, you'll find a mixture of sand and pebbles with large beach at low tide. Parking is nearby along the esplanade with small shops and cafes in Seaview down the road. Dogs are not allowed from May to the end of September. There is no lifeguard cover.

Woody Bay

Acess is a bit of a scramble but you are assured a nice quite spot here. The sand is red and white with large boulders and rocks. There are fabulous uninterrupted views over the Solent and the village of St Lawrence is close by.

Shanklin Beach

A safe and sandy beach with lots of nearby parking. A real traditional bucket and spade destination with amusements, crazy golf and go-carting nearby. With a high sea wall and pavement promenade this is an idea place for a stroll with views over the English Channel. Dogs are not allowed between May to the end of September. The beach has life guards during high season.

Totland Bay

Check the tide times before you visit as at high tide there is very little beach. At low tide the beach is pebbly with some sand. A promenade goes through to Colwell Bay which is a nice walk with lovely views across to the mainland. There is a disused pier and other facilities are available including toilets and a restaurant. Dogs are not allowed from May until the end of September. No lifeguard cover is available here.

Appley Beach

This beach offers a 100ft long stretch of golden sand and another 700 yards of flat sand when the tide is out, ideal for families, water sports and creating the illusion you can walk to Porthsmouth! It is backed by the tall trees of Puckpool Park, a lovely area of parkland and this creates welcome shade during summer. The beach is pristine and cleaned daily. Dogs are allowed but restrictions apply.
