St Ives Feast Day and Hurling of the Silver Ball

Mid-morning, the mayor lobs a silver ball onto the beach and a war of rugby without rules breaks out to keep it. Decoys include oranges wrapped in silver foil and people in suits of ivy. The winner must return the ball at noon to claim a quid.
