A guide to the West Country from the people that know…

Siblyback Lake

Sailing, windsurfing and canoeing on a big expanse of mercifully calm water on Bodmin Moor. Watersports tuition, equipment and permits for rainbow trout fishing are available from the Angling and Watersports Centre. For those who prefer to keep their feet on dry land, there are miles of scenic walks, excellent bird watching, children's playareas and a lakeside tea room with great views across the lake. New in 2012 a cable waterpark has been installed offering a wakeboarding system with professional tuition, pro clinics and a variety of obstacles for the more advanced riders!

Pretty but don't touch the cafe

Pretty enough stretch of water but very flat and boring paths. Not a lot of information for walkers other than what you can't do. Also suggest you avoid the cafe as the man cannot cope with customers and is extremely rude.

Blow away the cobwebs!

An easy walk of just over 2 miles around the edge of the reservoir passes through areas of woodlands. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Dog friendly but dogs have to be kept on leads. Open countryside views. Lakeside cafe, play areas and picnic benches.

Lovely walk.

As well as the activities on the Lake a lovely walk takes you around it. It is a level walk and gives you lovely views over farm land as well as the moors. The bird life on the lake is constantly changing so is ideal for bird watchers.
