Description:Be warned: the map is misleading. It depicts the farm shop as being on the main road through Polgigga/Trethewey. It isn't: you actually have to go down the road to Crean for about 200 yards, and then there is a narrow track on the left which leads up to the farm. And it's the kind of track which, once you're driving along it, you say to yourself "This CAN'T be right..."
Everything I have ever bought from this shop has been uniformly superb. Vegetables are sold with the dirt still on them, and taste like what their poor relations shrink-wrapped in supermarkets can only dream about. Meat is mostly frozen, but it was all reared on the farm. There is cream, cheese, biscuits, eggs and locally-made jams and chutneys too.
The last time we were there I joked that we could pretty much do our weekly shop from this one small outlet. It's not quite literally true, but it's really not far short. Oh, and did I say that the prices are generally better than the supermarket equivalents? Given that you can actually TASTE the food, that is a bargain!
Opening hours are 9-5 daily, but out of season it might be worth calling 01736 810516 in advance. If the shop looks closed (ie the door is shut) just toot your horn - the owners are working farmers and generally not far away. Say hi to Viv and tell her Oliver sent you.
