With rain looming we made a detour into Newquay and decided upon the Blue Reef Aquarium as our entertainment for the morning. All-round very interesting with some impressive rays and some outright ugly little critters too!
We were amazed how excited our 6 month old boy was by all his new-found fishy friends (the Lion and Puffer fish seem to have been his favourite!) and because of this managed to make the visit last about two hours.
However, if it hadn't have been for the boy, I can't imagine we would have been there much over an hour which for just under £10 a head makes for a very expensive distraction!

Blue reef visit

We found the Blue Reef visit rather disappointing, not because the sea creatures were not well-looked after and interesting, but because there was an air of scruffiness about it and the entrance experience was not good. It was also difficult to find (not well signposted) and quite expensive. We enjoyed our visit to the small lobster hatchery in Padstow far more, and it cost very much less.

aquarium

A good one for rainy days. Good for organising entertainments in the school hols and very good for little ones.
