A shingle spit away from the mainland, this fortress was built by Henry VIII to protect the Solent and once imprisoned Charles I. The castle itself is only open April - end October with daily ferries 10am - 5pm

An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which covers over 500 acres between the mouth of the Lymington river and the village of Keyhaven. Wander along footpaths which weave their way through lagoons, reed beds, salt marsh and mud flats. Spot rare plants and see a variety of birds particularly during spring and autumn migration time. Car parking is available at both Keyhaven and Lymington.

A 110 metre salt water pool offering swimming lanes, zorbing, kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Open from May to September (the cafe opens longer) this place is great fun for all the family. Word of note; the pool floor is rocky so reviews mention to wear wetsuit boots or beach shoes.

With woodland, open heathland and old meadows you'll find an abundance of wildlife here including resident deer, tawny owls and nightjars. The area is crisscrossed with footpaths and bridleways so you'll have plenty of choice of where to wander.There's a small car park at Roydon Crossroads or alternatively beside Church Lane (grid ref SU307315)
