Luxulyan Valley Circular Walk

iwalkcornwall.co.uk have some great walks in the area including this lovely circular three and a half mile ramble following leats and horse-drawn tramways through the World Heritage site of the Luxulyan Valley. Recommended in guide books as early as the 1920's as "one of the most glorious walks in all Cornwall" take a look at the link for further details.

Lerryn to St Winnow Church 5 mile circular walk

If you're feeling brave cross the stepping stones across the river to begin your walk otherwise there is an ancient bridge. Enjoy the beauty of Ethy woods with breath-taking views down the estuary to Fowey. An easy walk but remember to keep your dogs on leads when walking across farmland. The village shop in Lerryn offers refreshments. Limited free car parking in the village.

Luxulyan Valley World Heritage Site

Situated in south east Cornwall with miles of walks through the hidden steep-sided thickly-wooded River Par valley, the Luxulyan Valley was designated a World Heritage Site in 2006 due to its major concentration of industrial remains, the majority of which are as a result of the work of Joseph Treffry (1782 -1850). Treffry owned one of the largest copper mines which at its peak was worked by 17 water wheels and six steam engines. Treffry's viaduct, the abundant industrial remains and the breathtaking natural beauty of this area make it a truly unique site in the South West.

Fowey 'Hall Walk'

A 4 mile circular walk with harbour views, woodland walks and two ferry rides, starting in either Bodinnick, Polruan or Fowey and taking you around all three. It's a bit up and downy, with uneven terrain, but plenty of rest stops along the way.

Fowey Estuary to Pencarrow Head

A lovely four mile hike which should take about one and a half hours but will no doubt take longer if you are tempted to linger at some of the beaches on the way (be aware of incoming tides). The footpath is narrow and steep in places and care is need in wet weather.

Helman Tor Nature Reserve, The Saints' Way

Helman Tor is a spectacular viewing and picnic spot north of the village of Lanlivery. At its foot is a nature reserve with wonderful walks maintained beautifully by Cornwall Wildlife Trust. The Tor is located along the Saints' Way, an ancient pilgrimage route which joins Cornwall's north and south coasts, passing through some of the county's most beautiful scenery. The Way, maintained by Cornwall Council (www.cornwall.gov.uk), is clearly and accurately signposted.
