Chard Reservoir Nature Reserve

This idyllic reserve has wildflower meadows (at their most beautiful during spring), and woodlands which edge the reservoir. There are several hides, perfect for nature watching throughout the seasons. Open year round, the reserve is just a 15 minute walk from Chard town centre, or use one of two car parks.

There are six walks to choose from within the parish, the first of which goes over the hill to Holditch, a fairly strenuous two and a half hour walk. If this seems a bit taxing why not try one of the others on the Web site which are more of a gentle stroll.

Stockland Village, Millhayes and Broadhayes Walk

Park in the village car park and follow the directions on the Web site along footpaths and lanes, through farmland and along the banks of the Corry Brook. This walk is approximately four and a half miles and should take around two and a half hours.
