A conservation experience in the heart of the New Forest, these guys are doing good things when it comes to rehabilitation and species management. Go and enjoy the countryside whilst admiring animals from far and wide. It's very well set up, welcoming to disabled visitors, but not dog-friendly.

Ancient Abbey ruins were the centre of the village settlement and imparted its name. Now, Palace House is home to the Montagu family and there are exhibitions of monastic life with grounds and gardens to get lost in. Oh, and the famous motor museum of course.

Bucklers Hard

A heritage haven in the heart of the New Forest, nestled on thebanks of the Beaulieu River, this is a whole village of maritime history. A shipbuilding village from the 18th Century, there are replica workshops, the Maritime Museum, cottages, cruises, and trails to follow. It's not too expensive and provides a unique day out for the whole family.

Lymington Sea Water Baths

A 110 metre salt water pool offering swimming lanes, zorbing, kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Open from May to September (the cafe opens longer) this place is great fun for all the family. Word of note; the pool floor is rocky so reviews mention to wear wetsuit boots or beach shoes.

With woodland, open heathland and old meadows you'll find an abundance of wildlife here including resident deer, tawny owls and nightjars. The area is crisscrossed with footpaths and bridleways so you'll have plenty of choice of where to wander.There's a small car park at Roydon Crossroads or alternatively beside Church Lane (grid ref SU307315)
