Seaview to Ryde Walk

Park your car anywhere on the Esplanade at Seaview and walk past the Boathouse pub with the sea on your right. You will pass rows of beach huts, woodland and into Puckpool Park. The sea views are stunning across the Solent to the mainland and the park itself is a gem. The path hugs the coast all the way around to Ryde, past Appley beach with its gothic tower and into the town. You'll find lots of places to eat and drink en-route, the path is even and flat so suitable for pushchairs. Dogs are allowed on the footpaths but restricted on the beach so do check the signs. The return walk is approx 2 miles depending how far into Ryde you walk and the best return route is back the way you came.

Yar Estuary Ramble

Have a little pootle around the Western Yar Estuary on this east access walk. It's just under 4 miles long so will take up to two hours, but the IOW Ramblers have put together a lovely illustrated map to download for free with lots of interesting snippets.

Turf Walk

If you're looking for a moderate 4 mile walk taking in the Needles then this is a good one to try. Start and finish in Totland with moderate climbing, dogs are welcome and it should take you around two and a half hours. Take a look at the National Trust website link for a detailed route.

The Culver Trail

This circular three and a half mile walk will take you around the village of Bembridge and on to the downs of Culver cliffs with panoramic views across the bay. Start off from Bembridge Windmill and follow the route from the visit Bembridge website.

Managed by the Woodland Trust, this 27 acre woodland is boardered by peaceful countryside and the perfect place for an idyllic wander. Red squirrels make their home here so keep a look out.

Bembridge Village Stroll

A two mile meander around the village of Bembridge, taking in the historic windmill and, if the tide is out Bembridge beach. The route takes in the Lifeboat station on the beach which opens to the public during the summer holidays. The route starts and finishes at the Pilot Boat Public House, ideal for refreshments.

Borthwood Copse Walk

A lovely, peaceful walk around woodland. From the car park the path leads straight into the woods and the path meanders through the trees.There are no footpath signs but it's only a mile round the woods so don't worry if you get a little lost. The woods are maintained to support red squirrels and hazel is coppiced on rotation to ensure a good crop of nuts is aways available. Dogs are welcome. The paths are fairly even and there are no stiles however it does become muddy during winter and therefore not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs.
