Barton-on-Sea beach

This coastal strip gets sandier the more the tide goes out, but it otherwise characteristically shingle. There are large coastal defenses to keep eroision to a minimum but there are plenty of fossils to be found as a result. With grassy cliffs to picnic on in full view of the Needles, its a great walking destination with facilities for all, including the dogs.

Hill Head Beach

With views over the Solent towards the Isle of Wight, Hill Head beach is made up of shingle divided up with wooden groynes. Watersports enthusiasts head here for windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing. Although not the place for making sandcastles, this beach is great for gazing over the water watching the ships sail by on the Solent.

Hordle Cliff beach

Easy cliff walks with good pathways afford the best view across to the Isle of Wight, with a shingle beach to eat your icecream on. Dogs are allowed and there is disabled access and facilities.

Lepe beach

A stony little swimming beach at the mouth of the Beaulieu River with Slent views to the Isle of Wight. Dogs are only allowed seasonally but there is a large green area on the cliffs above, for picniking and games - and a history lesson if you're interested in D-Day landings.

Milford on Sea beach

A stony strip of beach with a playground and 500 yards from the village shops.There are lovely views all the way to the Isle of Wight, but most people come for the walk along Hurst spit to the castle. Dogs are allowed year round.
