The Granite Way

This cycle and walking route runs for 11 miles between Lydford and Okehampton along a disused railway line. The route forms part of the National Cycle network with Okehampton the most popular start point where bicycles can be hired locally. The off road track has the advantage of being mostly traffic free. Meldon Viaduct offers spectacular views across the moors.

Dousland to Princetown Railway Track

This disused railway line has been transformed into a spectacular walkway and rough cycle track that winds through deciduous woodland and past high moorland Tors. There are marvellous views of Burrator Lake and the Walkham Valley and the track passes the quarries of Sweltor and Foggintor, once famous for the granite used on many London buildings, including London Bridge.

Bike Chain Bissoe Bike Hire and Cafe

Based in the south, but the route goes right through the mining heartland of Cornwall and hits the north coast at Portreath. Bikes available to hire for all ages and abilities. Tag along and buggies also available. There and back the route is about18 miles, fairly easy cycling with a bit of a pull out of Porthreath on the way back. Make a day of it, take a picnic to eat on the beach and enjoy a cuppa on your return. There's ample car parking but you do need to pay.

250 acres of woodland with over nine miles of paths to explore and a gentle three mile cycle track. Peaceful woods, lakes, picnic areas and a cafe make Tehidy a great choice for a day out when you want to get away from it all. In spring, the carpet of bluebells is quite a sight.

Brand new in 2014, enjoy a variety of graded cycle trails for all abilites in and around the grounds of Lanhydrock House. All equipment is available to rent on site and there's a cafe nearby to help you re-fuel.

Darts Farm

Ronald Dart started selling fruit and veg from a small hut at the bottom of his field in the 1970s. One of the first farms in the country to run pick your own fruit and vegetables, today Darts Farm is run by Ronald's three sons, with a master butcher, fishmonger, baker, deli, cider maker and restaurant onsite as well as fishing ponds, a maze and farm walks. You can also now hire bikes and cycle the beautiful Exe Estuary cycle trail. Darts Farm was listed in the 2011 Times "Britain's Best Farm Shop" guide.

The Strawberry Line

A community project has been set up to develop the old railway line from Clevedon to Cranmore. At the moment only the section from Yatton to Cheddar is fully operational with other sections in the planning stages. Most of the route is off road with a lovely cafe at Yatton.
