The Boathouse

3/5

Based on 8 reviews

A contemporary pub situated across the road from the beach. Outdoor seating offers lovely views over the Solent during the summer months and indoors the decor is warm and welcoming. Dogs are allowed (on the hard floor areas of the pub) and children are made very welcome.

Could be better

Has the potential to be great however the steak at £32 was very expensive - served with skinny fries in error so waiter scooped them off my plate with his hands in front of me and came back with chunky chips 10 minutes later - not the experience I expect anywhere but certainly not when charging that price

Expensive and very small portions

The portions are very small (three chips with one of the fish dishes), a teaspoon of peas and they had run out of tartare sauce. Very expensive for what you get and the quality wasn't great either.

Walking distance from property.

We had two meals at the venue which we enjoyed. The Friday night special deal was very reasonable. We also had a drink to watch the sun go down over the Solent.

The Boathouse

Sadly, gone down in our estimation from previous visits in 2017. Very much looked forward to re visiting on this years’ Seaview holiday but one visit was enough this year.
We felt the food menu wasn’t as extensive, service not as attentive and to top it all was served a moldy bread roll. Didn’t go back!

Nice, relaxed atmosphere

I visited here last winter; it was cosy and warm with a good food selection and friendly staff. It was dark outside and really weird to see the ship lights sailing down the Solent pass by.
