Devon is a large and very green county, but there are just a few pockets of extra loveliness, and our guests think these three are the best gardens in Devon.
There are lots of areas of interest in these ten acre, lovingly designed gardens, with all manner of plants and design styles. When you’ve chosen your favourite, the nursery is stocked full of healthy little offspring for you to take home to your own garden. A conservatory tea-room serves Devonshire cream teas while you survey the surroundings.
Like a mini-Eden, with the amount of different gardens, and glasshouses propagate rare plants from all over the world. There’s so much to see, and when the greenery starts to blur into one, take in the 18 gauge railway, mini golf and play areas, restaurant, shop and garden centre!
So stunning are the grounds that they are used as a setting for open air theatre in the summer. With a backdrop of rolling Devon hillsides, these beautifully maintained gardens can be imagined full of Victorians wearing the 18th Century finery displayed in the house.
