Crantock (1.6 miles)
The village of Crantock is surrounded by miles of coastal paths and stunning beaches. With picturesque thatched cottages, an art gallery, an antique shop and tea rooms the village itself is delightful. The River Gannel flows out at Crantock Beach from a mile-long estuary. An important site for native and migrating birds the area is a haven for wildlife.

Holywell Bay (3.2 miles)
Lovely sandy beach, nearly a mile long, that takes its name from a holy well said to be located in a cave on the beach, only accessible at low tide. Good for swimming and surfing. If you get bored of sunbathing, a popular walk is from here to Perranporth - 5 miles each way.

Former pro-surfer Nick Tiscoe heads up the team of highly qualified and experienced BSA instructors at The Surf Club, specialising in private one-to-one and group lessons for ages six and up. They're open all year round and even provide heated wetsuits, boots and gloves to keep you toasty in the winter waves. New for 2010 are All Day Surf Experiences and Surf, Spa and Bar days. The Surf Club is based between The Scarlet and Bedruthan Steps Hotels, overlooking Mawgan Porth beach, near Newquay.
