Trevarno - Country Estate Garden

Home to the National Museum of Gardening, Trevarno has 35 acres of gardens including a lake, a pretty boathouse, a walled garden, an Italian garden and a bluebell wood.

A lovely day out

It is surprising how much garden there is at Trevarno - you can easily fill the best part of a day wondering around all the pathways and following the markers through the stunning plantlife. Don't forget to take some bread for the friendly ducks on the lake as they make a beeline for anything walking by! It is a little hilly so bear this in mind with the elderly, but there is a lovely conservatory tea-room to rest in afterwards that sells the best homemade cakes and buns - we tried to get the recipe but the lady wasn't having any of it! There is also the little soap museum and a shop for natural soap products, and a plant sale too. Well worth a visit!

A fabulous day out. Lots to see and do with something for adults and children alike. The gardens are breathtaking and are big enough to spend a good afternoon walking around. My son did the treasure trail which was just difficult enough to make it really interesting for grown ups too. The adventure playground catered for small children and big ones, it was hard to drag my two away (aged 2 & 8). The peacocks also put on a show for us, even the gardening museum was facinating even for the children as it was done with humour and was part of another shorter quiz. Topped with an excellent cafe with local and organic choices and even a good childrens menu. An absolute must!

Jul 2008	The Helston Railway Preservation Society are working hand in hand with the Trevarno Estate to reclaim an area of track that formerly ran adjacent to the gardens. Eventually they hope to install an historic engine to travel from the station at the top of the Estate along the countryside. It is an interesting project which adds another dimension to a day out at Trevarno.
