Most of us have flown umpteen times in a plane - but nothing quite prepares you for a vertical take-off in these huge helicopters! It is such an exciting way to travel, the views of Lands End and the coastline are second to none, and you get to the Scilly Isles in just 20 minutes. What more can you ask for? Minus points: It's LOUD when you walk from the terminal to the helicopter. If there is fog you face an uncertain length of time stuck in the terminal. Plus points: Heliport parking so close to the terminal that you DON'T have to catch a bus. Dead easy (and quick) check-in. Some cheap day-returns (meaning you have more time to spend on the islands). If you get the black helicopter then you've come up trumps - this was donated by the Sultan of Brunei and it's extremely luxuriously appointed inside!
This must be the best way to travel to the Scillys! On a clear day the view as you cross from Penzance to the Isles is stunning. The flight only takes around twenty minutes and is so easy to arrange.
