A guide to the West Country from the people that know…

The Stables

Take an idyllic walk through shaded woodland around the shores of Loe Pool, Cornwall's largest natural lake. The Stables cafe is the former Coach House and offers coffee, tea and cakes in a sheltered courtyard with lovely views across the valley. There's a small dining area inside and a number of tables outside. The cafe is open daily from Easter to October and weekends throughout the Winter. Activities for children on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school holidays. Safe traffic free environment, accessible by wheelchair. Also sells Roskilly's ice cream - for those in need of some light refreshment!

We walked from Helston Boating Lake to The Stables (apx 30 minutes or mostly level walking). It's great to be able to grab some light refreshments on this route - we indulged in a delightful chocolate and orange cake, washed down with a nice cup of tea! We visited on a glorious sunny day, but bear in mind if you visit when the weather is more inclement, there is very little seating inside.
