The opening of this pub is a welcome addition to our holiday! We had a meal here on our first night, delicious food and friendly service. Very dog friendly too. We look forward to the garden area being open, it will be a fabulous addition!

Taken over by the Stallards (the people behind the Hidden Hut). Food, service and atmosphere all excellent. Advise you book a table in advance as it’s popular. Thoroughly recommend.

Visited the week the Standard Inn reopened and had a fabulous meal with great service. Restaurant in the garden until October, lovely atmosphere and food second to none!

Called in for a drink at lunchtime, it was totally empty, never a good sign!
The landlord seemed most disgruntled that he would have to serve me. Only 1 of 4 real ales available. Decided not to stay. Most unwelcoming pub I’ve been in for a long time. How it’s still open I have no idea!

Very poor ham egg and chips which was very expensive
.Two eggs a slither of ham and potato wedges without a hint of even a lettuce leaf. Obviously a bad choice

Mediocre food and uninterested staff. Menu looked good but the food was a real let down. Sausage egg and wedges turned out to be two very small sausages, and what appeared to be the frozen wedges that you can get in any supermarket. Nobody was interested in our feedback, we didn't hang around to sample the puddings!

We have been to The Royal Standard for meals several times and have never been disappointed.

A pub like they used to be, excellent food and drink, welcoming hosts and locals. Great to enjoy a meal, drink and chat without the distractions of gaming machines, TV or loud music.
