Interesting site, but best if you can time your visit to make one of the guided tours of the battery as there's not a lot of access or information if you miss the tour. We arrived after the tour had started so leggd it across the site (it's a fair way) only to be shoo'd out and told it's by guided tour only. When we protested that we'd been sent over by the gatehouse to catch up with them she relented and the second guide gave us a whistle stop tour & we caught up with the main party & enjoyed that bit, otherwise, a bit dry and very military focussed - one for the boys. Lovely home made soup in the cafe.
