Described by the painter Thomas Gainsborough as 'the most delightful place for a landscape painter this country can boast', Lynmouth lies on the north Devon cliffs, between Exmoor National Park and the sea. It sits 500 feet directly below its sister village, Lynton. The two are joined by a unique water-powered funicular cliff railway. This part of Devon is rich in natural beauty; the coastline here is glorious, while inland Exmoor's valleys, rivers, waterfalls and hills create an inspiring, wild landscape.
