Went here for an anniversary meal and it was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten out. It is the first time I have complained about eating out in a restaurant and was given the excuse that the Chef had been really busy. But there was a total of 6 people eating at the time, including my wife and I!

I'm not sure the previous reviewer went to the same restaurant, because my experience at Blue Haze was so far removed from his! We booked a table for two on a Saturday night in September, the last night of our holiday, and it was absolutely the best meal of the week (beating Rick Stein's, and that's saying something).
I had a very tasty prawn and crab spring roll to start, and my boyfriend had the fishcakes. For mains, he had a crab risotto with scallops and crevettes while I had the monkfish Thai green curry with rice. The food was absolutely wonderful, tasty and fresh and everything you could wish for. The service was friendly and very attentive, we felt genuinely welcome the whole time we were there.
I cannot fault this restaurant on anything at all - if you're in Porthleven then do go, you won't regret it.

Very hungry after driving 250 miles my wife and I went to the Blue Haze. My wife's bottle of orange juice had an expiry date of Sept 2011 and looked 'unsavoury'. My mussel starter was the most expensive I have paid for so few mussels. I asked for half a lobster, left totally in the shell for me to sort out, no sauces, no additions, just lobster. When served the main 'compartment of the lobster was gone, the tail had been removed and rolled in strong herbs, chopped up and replaced, the chips were a strange colour and not nice. My wife's meal was tasty but extremely small portions. The service was probably amongst the slowest I have experienced in my life. The charming waitress was aware I was unhappy and I said I would talk to her later at the bar and not in front of other customers. I did not see her again. I spoke to the waiter at the bar who actually took details of how I wanted the lobster and when I informed him of my displeasure he just shrugged his shoulders and said that he would pass my comments to chef. There was no reduction in the over-priced bill. We went back to our cottage to gorge on cheese and crackers, crisps, and anything else we had brought with us!
