A guide to the West Country from the people that know…

Perranuthnoe

The path runs along the coast on the eastern side of Mount’s Bay. Pass the jagged rocks of Cudden Point to Prussia Cove, famous for its rock pools and caves as well as the smuggler John Carter, whose obsession with Frederick the Great, the King of Prussia, led to the naming of the area. Heading west will take you to Marazion.

A well kept secret

Seems to be mostly locals who visit Perranuthnoe, probably due to the fact that it isn't signposted from the main road. It has a lovely, open sandy beach that is fully covered at high tide and the waves are great for budding surfers.
Great cafe called "The Cabin" that's almost on the beach, they serve good (and well priced) food, drinks and ice-creams.
Parking is £4 for the day and about 5 minutes walk up the road is the Victoria Inn.
You can follow the coastal path to either Prussia Cove (great for snorkelling) or Marazion and St Michael's Mount. Both are within easy reach.

A lovely half hour walk along the coastal path from Sunnyside (2145) to a great beach for swimming and wave jumping. Lots of space; great rocks to the side for disrobing! not too busy; lovely ice creams at the cafe.

A lovely beach with a great cafe

Perranuthnoe, just a couple of miles from Orchard Barn, is perfect; unknown to the majority of tourists, it is ideal for families with young children. Though covered at high water, the beach is large; it is a popular spot with local boarders, and there is a really great cafe, open all year (weather permitting) serving really good home made snacks. The pub, The Victoria, is very good, and there are lovely coastal walks to either Marazion or Prussia Cove. You must go, but don't tell too many people!
