A guide to the West Country from the people that know…

Polkerris Beach

Polkerris beach sits at the feet of Polkeris, a little hamlet overlooking St Austell Bay. Next door to Menabilly, home of Daphne du Maurier, Polkerris beach is sheltered by a stone quay and offers plenty of facilities. With a slipway running down to the sandy beach, the south west-facing bay is perfect for families looking to enjoy long days in the sunshine.

It might be useful to know that this is a no dog beach and parking is very limited. Having said that this was a favourite beach for us as a family with no dog as it has a very safe beach for children with rock pools for them to enjoy.

Lovely small sandy cove where you can sit and eat at meal at the restaurant in the old lifeboat station, now a restaurant, while watching the sea. Park up in the town car park and walk down as no parking in village
