Towns and Villages near Falmouth

Feock
Lying on the shore of the River Fal, the village of Feock can be reached easily fom Falmouth or Truro by road or by the King Harry Ferry. Trelissick House and Garden are to the west. Tregew, a former farmhouse, dates back to 1315. From nearby Loe Beach 30 or more oyster boats can be seen working during the winter months.

Flushing
Flushing lies across the water from Falmouth and rumour has it that this atmospheric village enjoys the mildest climate in the country. With sandy beaches, friendly pubs and lush, green woodland surrounding it; Flushing is a wonderfully relaxing oasis at any time of year.

Helford
The village of Helford is a hidden gem of a place, secreted on the banks of the Helford River and surrounded by ancient woodland, deep valleys and creeks. Take a passenger ferry along the river and you’ll feel as if you’ve entered another world, a peaceful refuge from the traffic and crowds of the 21st century. It’s impossible not to think of smugglers, pirates and Daphne du Maurier’s tortured heroines as you slide across the water through this beautiful corner of Cornwall.

Maenporth Estate
This secluded holiday spot is within easy reach of the bustling town of Falmouth and all its facilities, yet it feels like you’ve been let into a well-kept secret. The beach is a perfect, sheltered little cove backed by woodland and gentle hills; it’s the kind of place you can imagine the Famous Five having visited. Maenporth Estate itself is 29 acres of peaceful wooded countryside overlooking the sea.

Mawnan Smith
This crossroads village near Falmouth sits by the beautiful Helford River. The blacksmith's Smithy, once the centre of village life here, has been restored to its former glory and houses workshops for local crafts.

Porthallow
Finding the tiny cove of Porthallow involves taking the road less travelled. This is the Cornwall of quiet, leafy lanes, hidden beaches and a slower pace of life. If you’re looking for wild nightlife or ritzy shopping, you’re in the wrong place…If you’re after total relaxation and peace, then you’ve found perfection.

Roseland Peninsula
The Roseland Peninsila is one of the most picturesque and unspoilt areas within the United Kingdom. With miles of the South West Coast Path to explore, flower covered pubs, riverside barbeques, paint box cottages, cream tea cafes and restaurants of high repute there is little more that you could ask for for your holiday. Spring comes early to the Cornish gardens here and the beaches and coves are numerous and idyllic.

St Just in Roseland
The prettiest church in England is said to be in St Just in Roseland. Walk down to the sea in early New Year surrounded by primroses and snowdrops.

St Mawes
St Mawes takes the Cornish coast to a very classy standard; perching on the unspoilt Roseland peninsula, the surrounding countryside is outstanding. St Mawes is also well known for its foot ferry to Falmouth and is home to the best preserved of Henry VIII's coastal fortresses, St Mawes Castle.
