Somerset Cider Brandy
Martock has been the home to Somerset Cider Brandy since 1679, 101 years before Napolean was born and grew a liking for brandy. He'd have scrumped here. These fanatical orchardists make a cider brandy that is close to getting the rubber stamp from Brussels to call itself just that, 'Cider Brandy'. If you fancy a glug, try ‘Shipwreck’. This ten-year old gem was finished in Allier oak casks salvaged (legally) from MSC Napoli that sank off Branscombe in 2007.

Top 5 West Country Scoops
What's your flavour of the month? Here's our pick of the best ice creams in the South West this summer.

|
 | It’s just a quick flit from some of the country’s big cities, yet venture into the Somerset countryside and it feels as though you’ve completely dropped off the 21st Century map. The Quantock Hills, the Somerset Levels, Exmoor - these are places where the ‘real’ world of speeding traffic, stress overloads and continual rush has barely dented daily life, and you’ll find your shoulders dropping and your forehead uncreasing with each hour that passes here.
