A guide to the West Country from the people that know…

Piles Copse is one of the few remaining areas of ancient oak woodland on Dartmoor and there you will find a pretty steam with waterfall pool. Four miles further up the valley is Red Lake, the remotest lake on Dartmoor and the quickest access is from the tiny lane that leads beyond the hamlet of Tor (via Ivybridge and then Cornwood) up the track around the waterworks, around the hillside for a mile and down to the stream.
