We had an enjoyable family meal in the California Inn while holidaying locally. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent and the service prompt. Our dog was welcomed with a treat and cuddle (there were dog-free areas too for those less keen).

I have no idea how someone rated this pub on a previous review with 1 star. I went with my children. Service was lovely. It's a proper traditional pub and the food was absolutely delicious with generous portions. Can't fault our evening.

This is the nearest pub to the cottage so we visited the 'local'
The service was poor and the food worse considering the price. You would be far better visiting the supermarket and cooking at home
