Penzance

Not quite as firmly on the tourist trail as St Ives, Penzance has real character and is more down to earth. The Jubilee Pool, on the Promenade, is an enormous open-air, Art Deco-style lido, complete with sun terraces and cafe - it’s a great place to while away a sunny afternoon.

Golowan

We arrived during the Golowan Festival (Midsummer) in June and some roads in Penzance were closed. There was folk dancing, street entertainment and street food. The Saturday was the Mazey Day procession which we missed as we did not know about it. Lovely atmosphere.

Gift shops

There are 2 brilliant gifts shops for all your keep sakes! One called the Buccaneer by the harbour and one just as you leave the town on the left. Cant remember what ya called but it’s opposite the car park. Brilliant service in both!
