A guide to the West Country from the people that know…

Daymer Bay

A sheltered crescent of sand and a perfect spot for watching windsurfers and sailors harnessing the wind and whipping along the shore. Few facilities (loos and a small cafe) give Daymer a peaceful feel.

paradise

a lovely sandy beach we used this beach several times as we were staying in a cottage nearby and we had our little Jack Russell with us and who really enjoyed the freedom with this huge expanse to exercise on there is a small cafe beach shop and public toilets ideal also for a bbq as you can always find yourself a little space away from other folks on the beach

A lovely spot which you can walk to very easily along the coastal path from Polzeath. Took us no more than 20 minutes, no nasty hills either!Added bonus is that you can reward yourself with an ice cream or cuppa at the little cafe when you get there. If you are feeling more intrepid carry on along the coastal path around the headland to Rock . This takes a bit longer and if you do not like steep (ish) cliffs you can always follow the path going the otherway around the headland -adjacent to the golf course. Once you get to Rock you will be due a further reward at one of the nice eateries overlooking the river. We went to The Rock Inn who will do you a lovely coffee and a bacon roll.

Paradise!

Walk the glorious sandy beach at Daymer and imagine you are in paradise! Our favourite beach at any time of year and whatever the weather. If you have time, take a walk across the golf course to St Enodoc church where the Poet Laureate, Sir John Betjeman, is buried in a beautiful little church yard.
