Carn Brea Monument

(Also known as the Bassett Monument) this imposing monument was built in 1863 as a tribute to Francis Basset a local philanthropist. Standing 90ft high, the monument can be seen for miles around and on a clear day both coasts can be seen from the top. Access from Camborne by following the Great Flat Lode Trail or use the car park near the top from the village of Carnkie, locate using postcode TR16 6RZ and follow the uneven track to Carn Brea Castle and take the footpath from the car park.
