A guide to the West Country from the people that know…

Cadgwith to Poltesco Walk

This is a stunning area for a walk with dramatic cliffs, pretty countryside and a coastal path which is hard to beat. Cadgwith has a great pub for a drink or snack before or after your walk (also home to the Cadwith Singers who entertain both locals and visitors most Friday evenings) and the local fish shop sells the freshest fish you'll ever find, caught by local fishermen daily. Park in St Ruan car park beside the village hall and follow the inland footpath leading to Cadgwith. Pick up the coastal path and enjoy the stunning cliff top scenery with views towards Lizard Lighthouse and Kennack Sands. At Poltesco follow the path back inland to the car park. Points of interest include pilchard cellars and capstan houses with colourful shingle at Carleon Cove. There are some hilly/steep sections on the coastal path. A lovely 3 mile walk with a dog friendly pub en-route.

Cliff top sea walk

Stunning scenery, lovely little paths, areas to stop and have a picnic. You’ll get plenty of fresh sea air. Steep in places, so not really suited for people with mobility issues.
